Tuesday, August 2, 2011  A great time was had by all at National Night Out 2011.  This event was held across the country to allow community members to interact with emergency service providers, prevent crime, and spend time with their neighbors. Blue Rock Fire Rescue had a large presence at the Millersville version of National Night Out, held at John Herr's Village Market.  BRFR joined local law enforcement agencies in putting on the event.  Highlights of the night included a police K-9 demonstration, an Army climbing wall, and a Blackhawk helicopter flown in by BRFR FF/EMT Hunsicker, who serves as a pilot and Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

Accident with Entrapment on Prospect Rd.

Saturday, July 9, 2011  While Blue Rock Fire Rescue was busy hosting the Washington Boro Tomato Festival Saturday evening crews were dispatched to the area of Franklin and Prospect Rd. in the fire district for a Vehicle Accident with Possible Entrapment.   Chief 907 (Graham) arrived to find two vehicles head on in the intersection with one patient trapped.  Engine 841 (Susuquehanna) arrived and handled suppression while crews from Engine 907, Engine 906, Rescue 905, and Rescue 841 began the extrication process. Due to the point of impact the patients legs were heavily entrapped under the dash board.  Command 90 requested Life lion aeromedical services and Engine 7151 (Mountville) for a landing zone due to the extended extrication time.  The patient was freed from the vehicle in approx one hour and transported via helicopter to the hospital for treatment.  Units remained on scene for approx 2 hours.
